TYLER’S STORY

A Legacy Bigger Than Football

For Tyler Steen, football has always represented more than a game. It represents discipline, sacrifice, teamwork, and service to something bigger than yourself. Those values were shaped long before the NFL. Tyler comes from a family deeply connected to military service. His father served in the United States Marine Corps, and his grandfather, Sgt. Rodney M. Davis, made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in Vietnam. In 1967, Sgt. Davis posthumously earned the Medal of Honor after sacrificing his life to save the Marines in his platoon by jumping on a grenade during combat. He was just 25 years old. That legacy of courage, selflessness, and commitment to others continues to inspire Tyler’s life and purpose today. Growing up in South Florida, Tyler learned that opportunity can change the direction of a young person’s future. Football opened doors, but mentorship, discipline, and the people who invested in him helped shape the man he became. Today, through the Tyler Steen Foundation, he is committed to giving young people the same encouragement, exposure, and support that helped shape his journey.

A Message From Tyler

Football changed my life, but the lessons that shaped me started long before the game. I grew up understanding the importance of discipline, sacrifice, teamwork, and serving something bigger than yourself. The Tyler Steen Foundation was created to give young people opportunities to grow, lead, and believe in what is possible for their future. Whether we are hosting a football clinic, supporting military families, or mentoring the next generation, our goal is to create experiences that leave a lasting impact. This is bigger than football. This is about service, leadership, and community.
